These Are The Top Dietary Resolutions Americans Are Making In 2024

Most people typically wait until the start of a new calendar year to make significant life changes. Whether it’s career, health, or food choices, most Americans are no strangers to making lofty resolutions to start the year off on the right path.

A survey conducted by market research company OnePoll asked 2,000 random individuals who follow an omnivorous diet a series of questions, yielding some surprising results in regards to their habit changes.

The survey found that 34% of Americans consider making improvements to their diet are more difficult than improvements in their romantic relationships (22%), and career (9%).

The biggest goal most Americans are trying to make relate to developing more ethical and eco-friendly food choices, with 57% and 56% of surveyed people making this resolve. An even greater 85% of Americans are choosing to swap out pork for turkey in their bacon choices. The pig population is definitely happy about that, but I can’t say the same for the turkeys.

A significant motivating factor in the surveyed individuals seems to be being healthy for their partners over themselves (28%). While these changes aren’t without their challenges, American’s seem to be trending toward habits that contribute to a larger well-being, including eco-friendly daily habits like water conservation and reusables (56%), and limiting red meat consumption (37%).
