The Ultimate Foodie Experience On A Disney Cruise

When it comes to theme parks and fictional food, Disney is already known to be elite, whether it be classic park treats, character-themed foods, or holiday dishes

Seeing fellow Foodbeasts Oscar and Theresa get to eat their way through a Disney cruise, however, opened a new world of Disney food possibilities, and gave me major food FOMO. Thanks for the invite, y’all.

Oscar and Theresa got to go on a three-day trip to the Bahamas aboard the Disney Dream, one of Disney’s signature cruise ships. Naturally, they documented all of their eating excursions and experiences while on board. For research purposes, of course.

Disney goes all out on these cruise ships, ensuring that there’s always something you can eat. “Throughout your day, Disney will always have food ready for you to enjoy that’s fully included with your stay,” Oscar said. That ranges from the onboard buffet restaurants, all-you-can-eat self-serve ice cream, and even restaurants at destinations like Castaway Cay, Disney’s own island in the Bahamas.

One of the coolest aspects of the cruise ships was the rotational dining program. As Oscar explained it, each night, your app will assign you to a different restaurant, and you’ll have a specific host assigned to your party throughout the entire cruise. These were some of Oscar’s favorite experiences of the whole trip.

As for his top spots? “It’s so difficult to pick a favorite restaurant onboard,” he said, “but I’m gonna have to give it to Animator’s Palate,” a restaurant that’s kind of like Animation Academy from California Adventure in foodie form, complete with an appearance from Turtle Crush. Oscar also picked the Royal Palace, where Disney princesses drop by while you feast on escargot and lamb, as well as Cookies BBQ on Castaway Island, which has ribs he’s still dreaming of right now.

There are so many other food options too, like adults-only restaurants you can add on to a trip, Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats, and so much more. That’s on top of all of the typical cruise ship experiences like shows, pools, a spa, and others.

While they set sail from Miami, there are other destinations the Disney Dream sets sail from around the world. You can check out full upcoming itineraries at this link, with prices for 3-day cruises starting at around $1,300 for 2 people.
