OREO Is Finally Releasing A Zero Sugar Version In The U.S.

For the first time ever in the U.S., OREO is dropping a Zero Sugar version of America’s most famous cookie—and yes, it’s the real deal, not a knockoff you’d find in the back aisle of a pharmacy.

With more than half the country trying to dial back their sugar intake, there’s been a strange hole in the snack universe: no true sugar-free sandwich cookie that actually tastes like the original. OREO clearly noticed, because they’re stepping in with a full-time solution starting January 2026.

The new OREO Zero Sugar keeps the whole ritual intact—the twist, the dunk, the “one more won’t hurt” energy—just without the sugar. It’s sweetened with maltitol, polydextrose, sucralose, acesulfame potassium, and notably, no aspartame.

They’re also switching up the packaging with a stand-up bag built for glove compartments, backpacks, and anyone who snacks like a commuter. Both Original and Double Stuf will hit shelves nationwide permanently next year.

If you’re curious enough to try the sugar-free future, OREO is letting fans sign up for updates at their Beyond the Cookie page.
