One of my favorite things to eat on this planet is bread and butter. I see why the phrase ‘bread and butter’ refers to someone’s livelihood, because that combo is essential. Whether it be some Wonder bread and Land O’ Lakes or La Brea Bakery bread and a seaweed miso butter, know that I’m at optimal levels of contentment when eating all types of the necessary duo.

So when I found a TikTok from recipe developer Justine Doiron AKA @justine_snacks showing how to make a ‘Butter Board’, trust my interest was instantly piqued. “I want to make them the next charcuterie board. Not to usurp charcuterie, but like maybe,” she confessed. And you know what? I wouldn’t be opposed to the notion.

Doiron credited restaurateur and cookbook author, Joshua McFadden with the concept, which is simply spreading massive amounts of butter on a serving board with and anointing the spread with your choice accoutrements like flaky salt, herbs and veggies. Besides the ideas of using various kinds of butters on a board running laps around my head, I was also drawn in by the communal aspect of the concept. Lemme go ahead and invite all the homies over for some bread and butter and watch them be pleasantly surprised at the genius concept.

So yes, let’s go ahead and make ‘Butter Boards’ a thing and enjoy all the bread and butter we can put together with no shame.
